The Webster Tigers girls volleyball squad hosted West Lakeland Conference rivals the Frederic Vikings on Thursday Sept. 30 in a crucial conference matchup. Frederic came into the contest with a 4-5 record on the season. The Vikings game the previous Tuesday versus the Unity Eagles ended in a 3-0 set loss on the night.
The Tigers came into the match with a 14-5 record and had come off a Triangular against Flambeau and Turtle Lake. In that contests, the Tigers beat Flambeau, 2 sets to 1, and then lost to Turtle Lake, 1 set to 2.
But on Thursday, the Webster girls were back in form, beating Frederic 3 sets to 1, improving their record to 15-5 on the season and sitting in third place in the West Lakeland Conference.
Scores from the contest against Frederic had Webster winning sets 1, 2 and 4 by scores of 25 - 13, 25 - 16, 25 - 19. Frederic won set 3, 25 - 20.
The Tigers next Conference game is Tuesday, Oct. 5 at home against Unity. Frederic now has a 1-5 conference record and is ranked fifth in the West Lakeland. Frederic's next game is Saturday, October 2 versus South Shore in Winter Wisconsin.
