After a difficult start to the season, the Webster Tiger football squad has a much earned “W” in the column on their side. Friday, Sept. 9th the Rib Lake-Prentice Hawks visited the Tigers for a West Lakeland Conference game. Both teams came into the game still looking for their first win after starting the season 0-and-3. It was also the first conference game of the season for Webster.
The game was an old fashioned defensive battle, as both offenses had their hands full with stout defensive play from both teams. The first half was a scoreless tie as no team could get the ball into the endzone but had success moving the ball at times in the first half. Webster stuck to their running game as they only attempted 10 passes and ran the ball a total of 44 times the entire game. Early in the third quarter on Webster's first possession of the second half, Sawyer Winkler broke loose on a sweep to the right side for a 36-yard touchdown scamper to put Webster on the board, giving them a 6-to-0 lead. Dominick Ricci's extra point kick was successful to make the score 7-to-0.
