GrantsburgÂ
Grantsburg’s girls started their campaign on the road in Glenwood City, where they had little trouble dispatching the Hilltoppers with a 59-13 victory in the non-conference game last Tuesday, Nov. 15. Â
The Pirates led the whole way and are hoping to make some waves in the West Lakeland Conference this season.
Siren
The Siren Dragon girls also opened their season last week, and they added another contest, giving them two victories to start their season. The Dragons started their week with a dominating victory at home against the visiting Lake Holcombe squad last Tuesday, Nov. 15, winning 79-30, led by a 24-point performance from Emma Peterson, and another 19 points from Lindsay Liljenberg. The Dragons never trailed or were in jeopardy of falling.
The Dragon girls went on the road to take on the Solon Springs squad last Thursday, Nov. 17, where they ran up the score quick in the first half, but the home squad Solon Springs players came back and matched the Dragons in the second half, making it closer than first thought.
Siren was able to hold on for the win, 50-36, giving them their second win of the early season.Â
Webster
Webster’s girls also started their 2022-2023 campaign last Tuesday, Nov. 15, going on the road against the Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Bulldogs. Webster played the Bulldog close the whole way, and despite a strong performance from Lauren Hetfeld on both sides of the ball, the Tigers were unable to stay with the home Bulldogs, and fell by a final score of 57-41. Hetfeld racked up 17 points, with five broads, five assists, six steals and two-for-seven shooting from beyond the arc. Tiger Gisele Reading was the only other Webster player to score in double digits, as she added 11 points to the Tiger effort.
