With the boy’s high school golf season in the rearview mirror, Grantsburg boys golf head coach John Addison outlined the highs, surprises and successes of the 2022 season:
“It was an interesting year for the Grantsburg Boys Golf Team,” Addison said. “We missed the first half of the season due to weather. And because of our size and school schedule, we were also unable to bring a full team to most of the conference meets.”
Coach Addison had lots of praise for his squad, and noted the loss of their one senior, while also pointing out the future talent that is emerging.
“We say goodbye this year to Noah Kapp, who led the team as a senior at its captain. Noah made tremendous growth these past four years of golf, and we are extremely proud of him,” Addison said. “Logan Johnson a Junior. He finished the year continually shooting personal bests, and also qualified for the Sectionals as an individual. We are looking forward to seeing what he can do next year as the leader of the team.”
The Pirate boys also had freshman talent to note, according to the coach.
“Alex McCormick carried the team as a freshman for most of the conference meets and finished the year as number one on the team. He is a talented golfer who should only get better,” Addison added. “Conner Tollefson, another freshman, was by far our most improved player this year. For someone who was reluctant to even join the team, it is remarkable how hard he worked to make himself and the team better.”
