Lakers too much for Webster girls

Tiger Lauren Hetfeld works past the Laker defense for a bucket.

The Webster Tigers girls basketball team hosted the Turtle Lake Lakers on Friday, Jan. 7 for a West Lakeland Conference matchup. Turtle Lake came into the game with a 2-2 conference record and ranked 6th overall in the standings. Webster began the game with a 1- 4 record and currently sit in 9th place in the conference.

The Lakers got off to a fast start right from the beginning of the game, putting pressure on the Webster defense with lots of up tempo offense the entire night. The Tigers were in the game until midway through the first half, as Turtle Lake led only a few buckets, 16-11, at one point.

But from there the Tigers were unable to get anything going offensively or defensively as Turtle Lake built up a 45-17 lead at the half.  The second half was more of the same as the Lakers offense kept the Tigers on their heels and the defense shut down Webster’s offense, allowing just 8 second half points and leading to a 71-25 Laker win.
