Grantsburg School District superintendent Josh Watt outlined his pride in not just the recent WIAA Division 4 State championship by the Pirate girls fastpitch softball team, but also noting the people behind the scenes and the other athletes and coaches who have distilled so much pride in Grantsburg athletics in recent years:
“We are proud of all of our Grantsburg School District student athletes and coaches (all teams in each season). It takes a great team effort and a lot of hard work to be successful,” Watt said. “We have experienced coaches who care about the students and really understand the game. The student athletes are determined and committed to being their best.”
Watt not only pointed out the importance of parents and coaches, but also noted the efforts to instill athletics in kids, starting young, as well as for those who are far past their sports years.
“I think it is important to thank our parents and families for their efforts and commitment to their children and programming at the school district,” he added. “The commitment made in supporting their children, whether it is summer camps and training, running children to practices, or attending contests, home or away, is a significant effort and starts at a young age. It is also important to recognize our community for their support of the school district and students. We are grateful for strong attendance at events and seeing all the Pirate Purple. I am proud of the way the Pirate softball team, student athletes and coaches, represented the Grantsburg School District and community, and congratulate everyone on an outstanding season.”
