Minutes from August 9, 2021
President Dave Dahlberg called the meeting to order. Present: Dave Dahlberg, Dan Ohnstad, Renae Rombach, Chris Erickson, Russ Erickson, Jason Burkman and Brian Handy. Absent: None.

Motion R. Erickson/C. Erickson to approve the School Board minutes from July 12, 2021. Motion carried 7-0.
Congratulations to the Grantsburg Elementary and Middle Schools for receiving the recognition of the WI RtI Center / WI DPI for their achievements.
The Transportation Committee will meet August 10, 2021 at 5:00 pm in the GHS Library.

Superintendent Watt presented information for the start of school 2021-2022. This included the District Pre-Service schedule and the New Teacher Induction agenda.
Karin Reinert presented the 2020-2021 Community Education and Volunteer Program Annual Reports. Stephanie Peterson, Community Education Director and CLC Director, was introduced to the Board.
Motion C. Erickson/Rombach to approve the following policies on second reading:
453.1 Emergency Nursing Services, 731.2 Video Surveillance Equipment, 760 Food Services Management, 820 Electric Sign, 840 Public Gifts to Schools policy and rule, and 860 School Visitor Protocol. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion Rombach/Handy to research further the possibility of implementing the WI DHS Voluntary COVID-19 Testing Program. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion Rombach/Dahlberg to approve the revisions to the GSD In-Person Learning Plan. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion Handy/Rombach to approve the GSD Employee Handbook Updates. The penalties for breach of contract shall be $1500 after June 15 and $3000 after August 1. These penalties will go into effect September 1, 2021. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion Burkman/C. Erickson to approve the Grantsburg Elementary/Nelson Student-Parent Handbook revisions. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion Rombach/C. Erickson to approve the iForward Elementary and Secondary Student-Parent Handbooks’ revisions. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion C. Erickson/Handy to approve the FEMA grant proposal of Jordan Buss of $9500 retainer and 1.5% of awarded FEMA funds. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion Rombach/Ohnstad to approve 2021-2022 athletic fees return to the pre-COVID fee structure. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion C. Erickson/Rombach to approve the hiring of the following staff members: Seth Coy, GHS Assistant Football Coach; Gavin Meyer, GMS Football Coach; Trevor Thompson, GMS Football Coach; and Heidi Horky, GHS Administrative Assistant. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion Burkman/C. Erickson to approve the hiring of the following staff members: Ashly Uhen, iForward Elementary Teacher, paying $1500 of her breach of contract penalty at her former school; Elizabeth Plemmons, iForward Music Teacher (PT); Heather Keane, iForward Spanish Teacher (PT); Heidi Garrett, iForward FACE Teacher; and James Kahl, iForward Tech Ed Teacher, paying $1000.00 of his breach of contract penalty at his former school. Motion amended by Rombach/C. Erickson to pay the total amount of the breach of contract penalties. Motions carried 7-0.
Motion Rombach/Burkman to accept the resignations of Caitlin (Olson) Petersen, GES/NP Social Worker and Peggy Anderson, GMS Secretary with thanks. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion Rombach/Burkman to accept the resignations of Jena Ryan, iForward Student Advisor; Colleen Trumper, iForward Interventionist; and Samantha Vohs, iForward Teacher with thanks. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion Rombach/C. Erickson to approve the School Goal Reports from 2020-2021. Motion carried 7-0.
Fiscal Report/Receipts Report: July 2021. Motion C. Erickson/Rombach to approve the August 2021 vouchers for payment. Specific check numbers are: #32305, #20660-#20664, #82364-#82454. Motion carried 7-0. Specific expenditures per fund:

Motion carried 7-0.
Motion Ohnstad/Rombach to reconvene in Open Session and take action as appropriate on matters from the Closed Session. Motion carried 7-0.
