Leva L. Oustigoff Sr.

Leva L. Oustigoff Sr. “Ozaawanakwad”, age 82, a resident of Boscobel, passed away at home on Nov. 15, 2021.

Leva was born on March 5, 1939 in St. George Island, Alaska to parents Nicholai and Agatha.

Leva married Beverly Oiyotte in Chicago, IL. They had five children together, Leva L. Oustigoff Jr., Laura J. Oustigoff, Joseph L. Oustigoff, Alvin J. Oustigoff and Neil L. Oustigoff Sr.

Leva was a welder in Chicago. He worked on the Sears Tower, John Handcock building and First National Plaza.

Leva moved back to Wisconsin where he coached little league baseball. He also worked in maintenance and served on the Housing Board at the St. Croix Housing. For many years Leva worked as an AODA Counselor for the St. Croix Falls outreach and then transferred to the St. Croix Tribe as an AODA Counselor where he worked until he retired at the age of 62.

Leva loved taking his grandchildren fishing, as he loved fishing on the lake and through the ice.

Leva is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Courtney. 

He will be greatly missed by his children, Leva Jr. (Barb LaBlanc), Laura (Jeremy Littlepipe), Joseph, Alvin (Christa Klein), Neil Sr. (Karen Washington); Eileen Guist and her sister Betty; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends here in Wisconsin and Alaska.

A visitation was held on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at 5 p.m. at the Hertel Tribal Ceremonial Hall, Hertel.

Funeral Services took place on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the Hertel Tribal Ceremonial Hall in Hertel with Vince Merrill officiating and Michael Taylor as the Spiritual Leader. Interment followed the service at Sand Lake Cemetery in LaFollette Township. Pallbearers were Andrew Timp, Chad Songetay Jr., Neil Oustigoff Jr., Jeremy C. Littlepipe, Patrick Decorah, James B. Emery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Russel Estridge, Chad Songetay Sr., Tristen Oustigoff, Dan Taylor, Jon Songetay, David Taylor, Pat Taylor.
