Trade Lake pushes for an environmental study

The Trade Lake board is hoping the county covers a study 

The Town of Trade Lake trustees approved moving forward with a request for the county to conduct an Environmental Impact Study (EIS) regarding the potential impact(s) on the region if a proposed swine Concentrated Agriculture Feeding Operation (CAFO) goes ahead, which is planned to house over 26,000 hogs.

The Trade Lake town board met in regular session on Thursday, Oct. 14, and while the EIS issue has been discussed in the past, Trade Lake town chair Ramona Moody said the county has not committed to such a study, either way, as of yet.

“They were very non-committal,” she said with a nod.
