CENTURIA–– Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative will host a Member Appreciation Day Friday, August 13, noon to 3 p.m. Co-op members are invited to the Centuria office, 1001 State Road 35, for food, DJ music, giveaways and prize drawings. All activities will be held outside and in the garage, rain or shine.
Food will be served from local food trucks, including root beer floats, kettle corn, mini donuts, cheese curds and BBQ pork sliders.
Members of all ages will enjoy bucket trucks rides, bean bag toss, lineman selfie photos and a kids electricity station. Guests can meet Polk-Burnett’s Solar Sam mascot and learn about the co-op’s 10-acre SunTuria Solar array, the first utility-scale solar in Polk and Burnett counties.
“We look forward to gathering with co-op members in person to share our appreciation,” said General Manager Steve Stroshane. “As a co-op, we exist to serve you. This is a fun day just for members, with no program or speakers. Come meet your co-op directors and employees, and let us thank you for your co-op membership.”
Insulated tote bags and LED nightlights will be given to all members who attend, and the first 100 kids will receive a $5 DQ gift card. There will also be co-op coloring books for the kids, and prize drawings for $50 electric bill credits; 10 winners will be drawn.
“The cooperative was established 83 years ago in 1938 with a tradition of annual meeting picnics for members. This summer is a good time to revive that cooperative spirit and come together outside with friends and neighbors. We hope you’ll join us Friday, August 13, noon to 3 p.m.” said Board President Ed Gullickson.
Guests are asked to enter Polk-Burnett on the north side of the building. Guests are welcome to wear masks, but they are not required. Food, giveaways and activities begin at noon. For more information, call 800-421-0283.
