The 144th annual Burnett County Agricultural Fair is taking place at the Grantsburg Fairgrounds this coming weekend, Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 26-29.
There will be loads of family fun and activities for people of all ages. Carnival rides will be available all weekend from the Spectrum Carnival, and there will be three grandstand events throughout the weekend. Below are some of the highlights to look forward to this weekend:
Thursday, Aug. 26
The carnival rides will be open to enjoy, and all of the 4-H and senior citizen class exhibits will be open for viewing. There will also be a cornhole tournament at 5:30 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 27
Friday at the fair is Senior Citizens Day! Seniors (aged 60+) can get a free slice of pie from Dorothy’s Kitchen food stand from 1 – 3 p.m. (or until gone), and bingo will take place under the big tent at 2 p.m.
The first grandstand event will take place at the fair Friday evening at 7 p.m.- the tractor pull! Beginning at 8 p.m. there will also be live music from Freeway Jam.
Saturday, Aug. 28
Saturday at the fair is Family Fun Day! There will be free ice cream cones for kids given out at the big tent beginning at noon until they are gone. Also for Family Fun Day, there will be a corn pile at 1 p.m., “Little Britches” judges in the cattle barn at 2 p.m., Pickles the Clown will make an appearance from 2 – 6 p.m., and the parade will begin at 3:30 p.m.
Right away in the morning on Saturday, there will be an older machinery and tractor show at 9 a.m. Later in the evening, the fair will see its second grandstand event of the weekend- the demolition derby. The demo derby will take place at 7 p.m. and there will be a power wheels demo and lawnmower demo before the derby begins.
Sunday, Aug. 29
On the last day of the fair, right away in the morning at 9 a.m., is the Horse Showdeo. After the Horse Showdeo, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., is the Farmer’s Market and Craft Sale. In the afternoon, starting at 2 p.m., is the last grandstand event and the fairgrounds second ever Lemon Race. The Lemon Race involves vehicles that are not necessarily your usual race cars, with themes and unusual features, they promise to end the Fair weekend on an exciting note.
