County and Grantsburg end shared facility talks

This property is the likely new home for the salt facility. 

After several possible proposals to cooperate on a new salt/sand shed for highway maintenance in southern Burnett County near Grantsburg, it appears that the county has broken off the talks, and has found an alternate plan, bypassing Grantsburg all together, and instead heading south on Highway 87 to construct a salt shed and storage set-up, courtesy of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).

With economic support and urging from WisDOT, Burnett County Highway Commissioner Mike Hoefs had championed a new salt shed facility that could alleviate long ‘deadhead’ truck trips to the county highway department shed outside Siren, working with WisDOT to fund it, offering to share
