In last week’s Sentinel, we incorrectly identified Northern Manufacturing in Grantsburg, which is the likely new home to Fresh Industries. It should also be mentioned that the noted 50,000-square-foot facility was in use for wooden shutter manufacturing as recently as December 2016, after production first began there in 1958. Prior to that, shutters were produced in Prescott, with furniture production beginning at the current Grantsburg facility in the early 1960s, according to facility owner Roger Norenberg. Look for a complete history on the Northern Manufacturing facility and its impact over the years in a future issue of the Sentinel, as the facility is repurposed and the conditional use permit is addressed by the village board and plan commission.
