Slow start for the Dragons

The Siren defense closes in on Frederic’s offense.

The Siren Dragons started a week late and had to start the season practicing in two groups due to COVID-19, but they are hitting their stride now after a big win against Frederic, 58-45.

“We are finally starting to get a little more consistent scoring, and are beginning to get a better defensive identity,” head coach Jon Ruud said.

Ruud said his team is young, but they are a tight knit group with each player bringing their own element onto the court.

“We need to stay healthy and get another two and a half to three weeks in and I think that we will be a pretty solid team,” Ruud said.

Siren heads to Webster Tuesday, then hosts Lake Holcombe on Thursday and Luck on Friday.

Ruud added, “Our ceiling is high, and we are just beginning to scratch the surface on how good we could be.”
