Dragons start strong

Siren’s Josie Taylor (34) fights for a loose ball against Frederic.

The Siren girls have an abundance of scoring options which has lead them to a 7-1 start this season. Their winning continued with a win over Frederic on Friday.

Head Coach Ryan Karsten said, “We are not dependent on one girl leading us in scoring. I have four or five girls that could be our leader scoring each night. It takes pressure of the girls to just play.”

Karsten added he has veteran leaders on the team who have worked hard and continue to be excellent examples for the younger girls on the team.

Those leaders include seniors Hannah Lemieux, Jalynn Nelson, Vinni Rightman, and Jaidyn Jewell along with junior Morgan Shetler and sophomore Lindsay Liljenberg.

Karsten said to keep this pace the team needs to stay healthy, work hard every day and to want to get better each day.

“The girls continue to want to get better each day we are together. So we have improved each week,” he said.

Their goals for the rest of the season will be to compete every night, do the best they can everyday and to continue to have fun.

The Dragons head to Webster Tuesday night, then play Lake Holcombe and Luck on Thursday and Friday.
