The Grantsburg Pirates and Hurley Northstars were ready to play on Friday night when the crowd noticed their were no referees present.

An hour after the scheduled start time, the game was postponed. The teams will meet in Hurley this Friday to make up the game.

The referees were double-booked on Friday night. During the hour there was little communication between the fans in the stands and officials.

The Northstars made the three-hour trip from Hurley to Grantsburg just to have to go back without playing a game.

The Pirates were scheduled to play Flambeau this week but that game has been cancelled. Flambeau will be playing Ladysmith as a makeup game from the first week of the season.

Grantsburg and Hurley remain the only undefeated teams in the Lakeland Conference.
