Chenal honored at  Wisconsin Sports Awards

Grantsburg Alumni Leo Chenal added another high school honor to his shelf by winning High School Football Player of the Year at the Wisconsin Sports Awards.

Chenal will be a freshman for the Wisconsin Badgers football team next year. He was named 2018 Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the year and a first-team All-American by MaxPreps.

He ran 194 times for 2,038 yards and 42 touchdowns. Chenal also caught 12 passes for 226 years and three touchdowns. On the other side of the ball he led the Grantsburg Pirates with 120 tackles, seven for loss, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and a sack.

Chenal enrolled early at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and participated in spring practices. He will play linebacker for the Badgers in the fall.
