'The Best Laid Plans' opens in two weeks
Village Players nearly ready to go on stage

Summer has finally arrived in Wisconsin and soon it will be the opening night of “The Best Laid Plans,” written by Fred Carmichael.

We’d like to introduce the rest of the cast for our tenth anniversary play at the Village Players Community Theatre, which stars a brother and sister, Leif and Ginna, and their friend Jake, who are spies that end up in an author’s Caribbean vacation home.

They are trying to get valuable government papers from the body which everyone keeps stealing.

Ginna Erickson, a fine young actress who has played the part of Caitlin O’Hara in “Over the River and Through the Woods,” in the 2006 production, will be appearing again as Phoebe Kraxley a Russian spy.

Ginna was in several plays while at Webster High School and has also directed a play at her church. She co-owns an independent film production-company and directed three short films as well as starring in two of them.

Ginna is majoring in art history at Bethel and has helped with set and construction. She also plays in a rock band with her husband Derek as well as her brother Leif, who plays Mr. Goralsky. What a talented family!

Leif Harstad is acting in his fourth performance with VPCT. He played Terry in “The Marquis Crossing Ladies Fist Attempt at Murder,” Patrick in “A Murder is Announces” and Nunzio in “Over the River and Through the Woods,” which he took on two weeks prior to performance.

And now he’s taken on the role of a mysterious spy. Leif has appeared in numerous productions at Webster High School.

Winning awards is not new to this young man, who is currently writing another novel and has won two National Writing Competitions. He also appeared on a panel before the Talented and Gifted Teachers of America. We’re sure you’ll enjoy watching him in this performance.

The most recent addition to the cast is Jake Petrangelo, who is new to Village Players, but familiar with the stage.

At Webster High School, Jake played a sailor in “The Little Mermaid” a Jet in “West Side Story” and Lumiar in “Beauty and the Beast,” as well as Skagway Skully in “Kodiak Flapjack.” He has also co-produced and acted in several short films. In “The Best Laid Plans,” he plays Vincent Kraxley, Phoebe’s sidekick.

Now majoring in graphic design at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Jake is looking forward to May of 2009. Not only will he graduate, but he will be marrying his fiancée Melissa Janssen. And can you guess where his wedding will be? Right here in our great community center and theater.

Ticket sales are going quite well. Be sure to contact Dee at 715-259-7876 to reserve your ticket.

See you at the play!
