George R. Holmberg

George Robert Holmberg, age 81, a resident of Webster, passed away June 8, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. June 21, 2008 at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Kampstra officiating. Music will be provided by Courtney Daniels and Fran McBroom. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Oakland Township, Wisconsin. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

George was born January 31, 1927 to Esther (Wolfgram) and August Holmberg in Oakland Township, Wisconsin.

He enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA in 1945, before being shipped out to Tsing Too, China in 1946. George served in the Navy for over 19 and one-half years retiring as Chief Petty Officer in 1964. He enjoyed fishing, coffee and dice playing in the morning coffee club.

George is survived by his children, Wendy, Rose, Nick, Deborah, Gwen, Robert and James; very special friend, Helen Rauch and family of Webster; brother, Lloyd Holmberg, Long Lake, MN; sister, Irene (Jerry) Gluheisen, Webster; many grandchildren; and former wife, Thelma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Connie; brother, Al; sisters, Alice and Marie; and special friend, Heredes Bach.

Memorials are preferred to Yellow Lake Lutheran Church.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home of Webster.
