Peggy Jean (Peterson) Peper, 81, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2021. She had many family members loving her, helping her, and spending time with her during the two weeks she was on hospice at her daughter’s home in Blaine, Minn. Peggy was a long-time resident of her beloved town of Grantsburg (most of her adult life, 55+ years).
Peggy was born on June 10, 1939, in St. Croix Falls; daughter of Gordon and Gwendolyn (Olson) Peterson. She was the older sister of Janice and Kathleen. She had a wonderful childhood …loved school and activities and all the social aspects. Peggy was blessed growing up with a close-knit family (on both the Olson and Peterson sides). She loved, and was loved by, grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Peggy graduated from SCF high school in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart, Richard Luverne Peper, on Nov. 29, 1957. Soon after Dick graduated from UWRF, they moved to Grantsburg with their two little daughters Lori and Lynn. Dick was a high school math teacher, coach, and later the athletic director. Their twin sons, Mark and David, came a few years later.
Peggy was a talented young housewife, known for her great personality and sense of humor. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, and made life happy and comfortable for her family. Every birthday and holiday was special! The Peper family became very involved in activities around church, school, sports and community, and made many dear friends over the years.
After their children were grown, Peggy continued to be active and busy enjoying life. She started a business with her dear friend, Farryl, making homes beautiful with their skills in wallpapering, painting and small decorating projects. She volunteered at the high school helping students learn to make quilts, and at church as well. Peggy enjoyed making and giving away many beautiful quilts, sewing projects and crafts over the years. She was helpful, kind and generous to family, old friends and new friends. Peggy loved being a grandma! Cherished each one! She full-heartedly helped, loved and celebrated their milestones.
In the last few years, Peggy has also been blessed to have four little great-grandchildren to enjoy as well. Friends and family were always great joys for Peggy. She especially loved family reunions, holidays, celebrations and winter trips to spend time with the CA bunch. Peggy also loved her church family, neighbors and friends in the community. Just as she loved helping them in earlier days, they were all great sources of help and support to her in difficult times and in her later years. We, her family, are forever grateful to you!
Peggy is preceded in death by Richard Peper, her husband of 40 years, and precious daughter Lynn (Peper) Ryan. These two deaths left her with a sadness like none other. Also preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Gwen Peterson, and her sister, Janice Kammerud, who were also greatly missed by Peggy.
Peggy is survived by:
Her sister, Kathleen Peterson, Naples, FL.
Daughter, Lori (Jeff) Zinnecker, Blaine, Minn.
Son-in-law, Murray Ryan, Grantsburg
