Two people were pronounced dead after an accident in the Town of Grantsburg. Burnett County Dispatch received a call Dec. 28 for a semi versus automobile on State highway 70 at Williams Road in the town of Grantsburg, according to the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.
Micaela Schneider, 22, Plover and Olivia Johnson, 22, St. Paul, Minn. were traveling westbound in a 2004 Honda Accord around 3 p.m. The preliminary investigation states the driver, Schneider, lost control of the vehicle and entered the path of the semi, which was traveling eastbound on highway 70.
There were no significant injuries to the driver and passenger of the semi.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2004 Gold Honda Accord was traveling westbound on State Highway 70. The semi was traveling eastbound on State Highway 70. It appears that the driver of the Honda lost control and travelled into the path of the oncoming semi and was struck by the semi.
The Grantsburg Fire Department, North Ambulance, Burnett County Highway Department, Burnett County Medical Examiner, Wisconsin State Patrol, Karl Anderson’s Towing, Bruce’s Auto along with the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
This crash is still under investigation.
