A number of law enforcement, fire department personnel and EMS workers rushed to Sterling Road in the Town of Anderson after a suicidal man allegedly started a house on fire, according to the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.
A press release stated, on Friday Dec. 11, just before noon, a man called 911 after starting a house on fire on Sterling Road. Burnett County Dispatch was able to get the male to put away his firearm before law enforcement took him safely into custody.
The call to dispatch came at approximately 11:57 a.m. and about 30 minutes later he was safely in custody. Then local fire departments, including Grantsburg, Siren and Cushing Fire departments, tended to the fire and EMS evaluated the man.
The structure was fully engulfed in flames, however no other structures were damaged and nobody was hurt.
The press release concluded, “Because of a quick response from Burnett County Negotiators, Grantsburg Fire, Siren Fire, Cushing Fire, North Ambulance, the Wisconsin DNR, the Burnett County Sheriff’s Deputies, Polk County Sheriff’s Deputies and Polk Burnett Electric no other structures were damaged and nobody was hurt.”
