Runway 5/23 in Meenon used to be one of the worst airport runways in the state. Now, after a full reconstruction the runway at the Burnett County Airport, should last 20 years.
Ryan Falch, aviation project engineer for MSA, helped with the design of the reconstructed runway. He explained the runway has been designed to last for 20 years.
Supervisor Emmet “Buzz” Byrne asked Falch about maintenance of the runway. Falch responded crack sealing and general maintenance will be needed every three to five years.
The runway was reconstructed last fall at a price of about $2 million.
