When Jerry Fiedler announced Fiedler Ford was closing its doors earlier this year there were a lot of questions surrounding the announcement. One of the biggest was what will happen to the car show Fiedler ran during Big Gust Days.
Ben and Nicki Peterson have taken over the car show for this year’s Big Gust Days in Grantsburg. It will be held Saturday June, 1.
The Peterson’s own and operate Brickfield Brewing and were discussing purchasing the Fiedler building across the street from the brewery with Jerry.
“We asked what their plan was for the future of the car show. It seemed the future was unknown at that time,” Nicki said. “Knowing how important the car show is to Big Gust Days, we wanted to make sure it didn’t go away so offered to organize it, with Kraig Fiedler’s help.”
Nicki added, “It will always be a community car show and one that we will always call the Fiedler Car Show but we will plan to organize and sponsor it going forward.”
They are planning on getting a feel for how things work this year and have plans for expansion in the future.
“We’ve also added fundraising events for the Splash Pad and live music at Brickfield to create more excitement around Big Gust Days,” Nicki said. “The fundraising events will include a Grantsburg Rotary chili cookoff, a silent auction and a lemonade stand.”
She reiterated they are not taking organizing all of Big Gust Days. Their hope is more Grantsburg businesses take part in the festivities to enhance the Big Gust Days throughout Grantsburg.
