A Grantsburg man was injured and hospitalized after a crash east of Rock Creek on Highway 70 on the morning of Thursday, March 18.

According to the Minnesota Highway Patrol, on March 18 at approximately 7:38 a.m. a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Eric Thomas Olson, 54, of Grantsburg was on Highway 70 east of Rock Creek and began slowing to make a left turn.

The MSP reports that a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Anton Herbert Swanson, 26, of Grantsburg swerved to avoid the Pontiac and collided with the rear passenger side of the Pontiac.

Both vehicles ended up in the ditch after the collision. Pine City firefighters and Pine County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene along with the state patrol.

Olson, who reportedly was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, received injuries described by the state patrol as non-life threatening, and was transported to Welia Health. Swanson, who was wearing a seat belt, was reportedly uninjured.

According to the state patrol, roads were dry and alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
