The Sentinel would like to invite the youngsters of Burnett County to participate in monthly writing opportunities to be featured in the Sentinel.

Once a month, the Sentinel will give a writing prompt for the youth, ages 7-12, as well as a writing prompt for the teens, ages 13-18. They will then have a few weeks to write their response before the deadline provided. The maximum word count is 300 words.

If you have a child, grandchild, niece, nephew or friend that would be interested in having their writing featured in a newspaper, tell them about the first month’s prompt for their age group.

The first prompt for ages 7-12 is: The first week of school has ended, what was your favorite memory during the first week, and why?

For ages 13-18: Summer has ended, and school has begun. What was the best or most special thing you did over the summer, and why?

Have them submit their articles with their name and town they are from to the Sentinel by Oct. 4 and their writing may be featured in the Oct. 9 edition of the Sentinel. You can submit articles a few different ways. You can drop them off at the Sentinel office, mail them to P.O. box 397, Grantsburg WI, 54840 or send them via email to news@burnettcountysentinel.com.

We look forward to hearing from the youth of our county!
