MEENON––One man is dead following a one vehicle crash near the intersection of State Highway 70 and Clam Lake Drive in the Town of Meenon early Sunday morning, according to the Burnett County Sheriff's Office.

Matthew Matrious, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene and two juveniles were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities arrived on the scene at 5:43 a.m. on September 15.

"Initially, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash," a release from the sheriff's office said.

The Sheriff's office believes the vehicle was stolen and may have been involved in a Barron County burglary. 

The investigation is ongoing with the sheriff’s office.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation cleared the scene after about two hours.

The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, St. Croix Tribal Police Department, North Memorial Ambulance, Siren Fire Department, Burnett County Highway Department and the Burnett County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
