GRANTSBURG––Authorities executed a search warrant in the Village of Grantsburg and were able to recover methamphetamine, marijuana and various drug paraphernalia. Three individuals were arrested following the search warrant.

The warrant was executed on the afternoon of June 30 after police received a tip about a large amount of methamphetamine at 317 S. Pine Street in Grantsburg the day before.

Shane J. Fagnan, 23, Grantsburg, was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine with intent, felony possession of synthetic marijuana with intent, felony knowingly keeping a drug house and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Michaela B. Payment, 22, Waite Park Minn., was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine with intent, misdemeanor possession of synthetic marijuana with intent, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine.

Brett R. Casey, 23, Danbury, was arrested on a probation warrant.

According to the police report, officers from Grantsburg Police Department, Siren Police Department, Tribal Police Department and the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the residence around 3:30 in the afternoon.

Siren Chief of Police Chris Sybers struck the front door five times with a large sledgehammer after knocking. After the fifth attempt, officers advised Sybers to break the glass of the front window and then unlock the door.

Inside the home officers saw Fagnan standing in the living room, they searched him and allegedly found $2,627 in cash in his pockets.

There was a female, Payment, exiting the bathroom when police entered the home, they believed she had been flushing something but when they entered the bathroom the toilet bowl was filling up again.

Officers allegedly found a number of baggies on the washing machine. It was a bag full of baggies with suspected methamphetamine inside them. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.

The police report continues to outline what officers found while searching the house. This included 22.37 grams of amphetamine/methamphetamine, 125.51 grams of THC and 87.82 grams of synthetic cannabinoids.

Also, in the home were various items of drug paraphernalia including a digital scale, a broken bubble pipe and other various smoking devices.

All three were booked at Burnett County Jail.

Fagnan was scheduled to be in court on Wednesday, July 10 and Payment is scheduled to appear at the Burnett County Courthouse on Wednesday, July 24.
